My session at Blue Licks covers blogs, wikis, podcasts, too,similar to Melissa's great workshop at KET but much more. Does the group want a 'focused' preso or an overview of many of the web2.0 tools that I am using? Shall I mention how to broaden one's PLN, too? At KySTE I showed integration of such tools with students and with EncycloMedia. I welcome any direction from the group. TIA!

I think an overview of more tools is the way to go.

Practice using the tools would be good. Application and strategies for when you might need to use those tools would be my suggestion.

Thanks for letting me know about this. I can't be at the retreat, as I have too many school duties to do this week, but I will check in with you from time to time and not miss out on so much!

I am also interested in blogs in the classroom - however, my district proxy blocks anything with the word "blog" in it, so we are not able to use them. Any ideas as to how I can help my students and obey my district rules?

Thanks Amy for the comment about the picture, I went back and fixed mine so I was not a piece of TOAST and now I have identity. I can not WAIT to learn new things.

I think this will be cool, assuming I can ever figure out what it's for!

I'm interested in learning technology tools that are focused on 1:1 innovations to help student learning and teacher instruction; technology that empowers the student and teacher by putting the controls of llearning in their hands instead of learning being held hostage by a district proxy server. I want to know more about developing wiki's, podcasts, blogs, moviemaker and teachertube to transition the classroom into a 21st century learning environment that goes beyond powerpoint. The catch? To accomplish this goal within the context of current district teacher webpages.

As a facilitator I am interested in learning more about how to appropriately integrate the available tools within blackboard so that learning within that environment is seamless.

I am always interested in learning more about technology and the field of education. I also need to practice using many of the tools that we already have access to. I have been to busy trying to enjoy my short summer.

Looking at that intimidating screen
gives me the shakes- I want to scream.
Why must I be forced into a blog when my poor brain's in a fog?
Is that adobe Flash something I need and is it hypespeed?

though all my mentors try to be kind
showing me Elearning is the way
Maybe I'll get it someday!

This has just been a great experience for me. I've learned a whole, whole lot and love that I now know my colleagues (and what they look like)! I've gotten so many fabulous ideas and am completely impressed by the expertise, passion and collaborative attitude & effort. Thanks everyone!

Gosh everyone, I was so psyched driving home from the retreat...I was so excited about all the new technology we've been talking about over the last 2 1/2 days. I just finished up a pronto chat with one of my participants, and she told me that the students in her school are not even allowed to use the internet at all, except when they are looking up information, in the presence of their English Teacher. Gee...what a disconnect between what COULD be happening for those kids, and what IS happening.

I really enjoyed reading the reflections of the participants who posted their thoughts after reviewing the information in the Forces Affecting Education sessions! Please DO share your experience with the map and what you learned with your participants. Add to your understanding by reviewing the other Drivers of Change. Also include how you spread awareness of these "Drivers of Change"!
